Cake from Dinkle’s Bakery I’d like to thank everybody who sent me birthday wishes and even went beyond that yesterday. I had a great day filled with emails, awkward personal encounters (kidding), gifts and lots of good food. It’s a good thing that I worked out for an hour before I got to work, since Mary and Stephanie and the gang had prepared quite an on-air feast for me.

We had bacon wrapped scallops from Morton’s, Dinkle’s Bakery cake (Drew bought it), and chicken soup and a pastrami sandwich from Eleven City Diner. I only ate half of the pastrami, but I brought the other half home with me so it’s as good as gone. My Mom and Dad even sent me burritos from Rick’s in Pasadena. I am getting fatter as I type this.

How about Drew with that cake? He loves cake! I once spent $500 on a birthday cake for Buzz (thanks, Dan) that wasn’t even 1/10th as tasty as mine. Janet even had Alaskan Kingcrab legs for me when I got home (she Michael Richards went to Costco on Monday). I was planning on just having my Balance For Life, so that was also a nice surprise. I am stuffed!

I never think that I want a big birthday celebration, but then when I don’t get one, I pout. I’mnot pouting after this birthday. I spoke to all three boys, and Matt even wrote a very nice thing about me at his web site. The Little Guys even came and fixed my cable. I am lucky to have so many people who love me and care about me in my life.

Why doesn’t Michael Richards just say he was trying to be funny? At some point he must have thought he was trying to be funny. Go with a Lenny Bruce defense: “I was trying to point out that we Americans still have a long way to go in terms of getting our own problems solved, man. How can we even think about helping Iraq deal with its internal struggles? Ya dig?”
