Welcome To The New DAHL.COM
I hope that you like the new look of dahl.com. It took us a little bit longer to launch it than we would have liked (we were hoping to have it coincide with the first DahlCast), but I think it was worth the wait. We will be able to make the site a lot more interactive in terms of using it as a companion piece to the DahlCast. Ed Silha deserves a lot of the credit for getting it to work as well as it does. Most of the general programming was done by an outside company, but Ed really added the functionality, even though he “isn’t in love with Drupal!” If you say that in the high-pitched ESPO1 impersonation voice, it’s a guaranteed laugh getter. Let us know if you have any ideas or suggestions as to how to make the site better, and we will try and implement them if they make sense. And maybe even if they don’t.
I had the chance to see both Jeff Joniak and Tom Thayer on the sidelines before yesterday’s Bears game and they are going to switch days this week. That means that we will be talking on Jeff on Monday’s DahlCast and Tom on Friday. I ate way too much at yesterday’s game. That combined with all of the Halloween candy I’ve eaten over the past few weeks and the baked goods that Rick the painter and Stephanie brought last week have caused me to consider having my jaw wired shut. That might make for some interesting podcasting. I probably wouldn’t be any harder to understand than our own Brendan Greeley.
This is a bad time of year for me when it comes to eating. The cold rainy weather makes me want to mainline carbohydrates. I am especially vulnerable to anything from a bakery. After almost two month of DahlCasting, I want to thank all of you for the overwhelming response. We have had over 470,000 downloads so far, and you all are telling me that you like what you hear. I am enjoying the Hell out of doing it, and I am very happy with the content so far. It’s really been fun to have one hardcore hour where I can just cut loose and not have to hold anything back or save it four the fourth or fifth hour of a show. The hour is perfect for me, and I think that you will find it perfect for you as you learn to make it a more portable listening experience. GM, is joining Chrysler and VW in announcing that they will make Internet connections available in some of their vehicles. I don’t think that I’m the only one who thinks that this podcasting/streaming thing might be the way of the future.
